Dear EDBF Members,
May I wish you all a Happy New Year. As the Vice- Chair of the EDBF Medical & Sports Science Commission (M&SSC), one of my roles is to run the EDBFs Anti-Doping Education programme for our paddlers, coaches and officials alike. In this I would like to keep you all informed of the latest developments in EDBF the WADA campaign for clean sport. The International Testing Agency (ITA) is an arm of WADA and they have launched a webinar series covering anti-doping issues, which can be complex. One of the purposes of the webinar sessions is to break down these complexities, with the help of experts, by presenting topics in an engaging and athlete-friendly manner, to deliver anti-doping education informally and in a relaxed setting and through live questions from the audience.
The first webinar for 2022 is called “Building Clean Sport Communities”. Experts will discuss the importance of a clean sport community and how, in whatever role we have, we can make a valuable contribution to ensuring our environment is doping free.
The guest panellists will share examples from their own experiences as athletes, who have competed at the very top of their sport. They will discuss what clean sport means to them, why anti-doping is everyone’s responsibility and not solely the athletes who can be tested. They will offer practical tips on how to build a clean sport community and discuss the important role of culture in doping prevention.
All the ITA webinars will be held in English with simultaneous translation to four additional languages – Arabic (العربي), Spanish (español), French (français) and Russian (русский).
