EDBF Congress 31st July 2017 - Headlines

Below are the headlines from the EDBF Congress, held on the 31st of July 2017.

EDBF President/EDBF Treasurer

The new EDBF President is Claudio Schermi from Italy.
The new EDBF Treasurer is Maura Dezi from Italy.

Both will formerly take over their positions as of 1st January 2018. In the 5 month transition period Alan and Claudio will be working closely together to close out any outstanding issues and ensure that there is a smooth changeover.
On behalf of the EDBF Council may I take this opportunity to thank Alan van Caubergh and Nataliia Kravtsova for all their work for the Federation over the last number of years. Both have worked tirelessly for the EDBF in a purely voluntary basis.


13th EDBF European Nations Championships will be held in Brandenberg an der Havel, Germany between 23rd - 26th August 2016. Bulletin no. 1 will be issued before Christmas 2017.

EDBF Convention

The Congress agreed that they would like to hold an EDBF Convention in Belgrade, Serbia over the weekend of 24th - 26th November 2017. Friday, 24th November will be reserved for the Executive Committee Meeting with the Convention formally starting on Saturday morning. The main aim of the Convention is for us all to discuss and analyse our sport. Further details on the event will be issued in the coming weeks, but in the meantime if there are any items you would like included on the agenda, please let us know.

Future EDBF Championships

The EDBF is looking for future bids for Championships to be held from 2020 onwards. The 18th EDBF ECCC has already been awarded to Cuevas De Almanzora, Almeria, Spain for 2019. We are therefore looking for a host for the14th EDBF ENC 2020. We would very much like to try and agree the location of the Championships for 2020 and 2021 at the Convention in November, so if you would like to bid please can you contact the Secretary General.

We are looking for volunteers to serve on the following EDBF Commissions. If you know of anyone with an interest or the right skill set please can you contact the Secretary General.

    European Dragon Boat Federation European Nations Championship will be held 23-26 August 2018 in Brandenburg a d Havel, Germany.

    Bids for championships are still being accepted for 2020, 2021 & 2022. Ukraine has submitted a bid intention for 2020 to be explored further in Belgrade at the ExGA in November in Belgrade.

    EDBF Convention to take place 24, 25, 26 November in Belgrade, Serbia. Be sure to let your national federation know what issues are important to them so they can be brought into the meeting agenda.

    Claudio Scherm (Ita) has been elected EDBF President and Maura Desi (Ita) has been elected EDBF Treasurer. Congratulations and thanks to Alan van Caubergh and Natalia Kravtsova for their service. There will be a transition period until January to allow business to be smoothly transferred.
